• Hi,

My blog was located at http://dailypandora.com

I transferred my blog from the old host to a new host. I uploaded the blog backup that my old host has given me. First when I uploaded the blog’s folder to the new host it didn’t work because the old host had edited the htaaccess to redirect it to their 404 page.

My new host corrected the htaaccess and now I can access the blog but when I click the post title it shows a 404 page, when I click the “next page” it shows a 404 page! I’m really trying to figure it all out but can’t!

Is it possible to take folder which contains all the posts from the blog backup and do a new, clean WordPress installation at my new host?

    Regards,
    Amit

  • The blog posts are stored in a MySQL database, not in files on your server (like your theme/plugins etc.)

You need to export the database from the old host (through something like phpMyAdmin) and import it in to the new database on your new host. You’ll also need to change the settings in the wp-config.php file to point to your new database.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks for the reply!

I was able to login to my Dashboard with the help of the support staff at my host.

But I see the following message when I go to the /wp-admin page –

Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.

What do I do? I just clicked the upgrade to WordPress 2.9 button.
