how can i pull tags from a sidebar widget

    I am developing a sidebar widget within a plugin and i am trying to pull out the tags for the particular post i am on.

    is there a function i can call from my widget function to get the tags for the post. i am outside of the post loop btw…

    or is there a function i can pass a post id to get me tags?
