How can I make it more secure? (Sensitive Info being sent)

    Hi there,

    Thanks for making such a fabulous plugin – so glad you took it over @yehudah, it’s one plugin that everyone seems to recommend on their SMTP Plugin list 🙂

    Hoping you can advise re security – I like to completely lock down my site (sensitive info can be sent via my forms) and I was hoping you had some ideas on making it even more secure?
    – e.g how do I NOT have my email password store in the database for your plugin settings – can I update it in wp-config instead?
    – I don’t save my form entries to my database, so I had to turn off logs, apart from disabling Email Logs, anything else I need to do so no one can see what was in those emails / confirmations sent?
    – I’m using SMTP via my hosting settings, any way to get it sending as S/MIME enhanced encryption?

    Any other ideas on making it more secure?

    Hi,

    Thank you for the kind words.

    1. You can set your credentials in the wp-config.php like this:

    
define( 'POST_SMTP_AUTH_USERNAME', 'my@gmail.com');
define( 'POST_SMTP_AUTH_PASSWORD', 'MY_GMAIL_PASS');

    2. What you did is enough.

    3. S/MIME it’s server side/SMTP service and email client setup, nothing to do with the plugin.

    What SMTP service do you use? VPS?
