• I upgraded to 3.4.2 and (foolishly, I now realize) checked the boxes to accept the theme upgrades as well. The site I inherited responsibility for has a child theme so I assumed all the customizations were in there. But updating the themes messed with the site design. I immediately restored from the complete cpanel backup I had made prior to the upgrade but that did not fix the problem. I am still learning WordPress so advice given as though speaking to a novice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

The simplest way is to download the previous version of your theme and treat it as your another new theme and proceed that way. I suggest you should “RE-NAME” the folder for your existing theme because it might be sharing the same name.

What is your theme called and have you got a copy of the zip file when you first downloaded many months ago? The problem is getting the old version files and I know nothing about your theme so I shall stop here.

Whatever you do, DON’T delete anything because your child theme is still good to use as it is.

    Good luck.

According to the Manage Themes page, our current theme is “Suffsion-Child”. When I took over the site I did not inherit any of the original downloads, norbackups (or anything really, just the website itself). I’ve been backing up regularly plus always before an upgrade.

In addition to the last several full backups, I have a backup I made back in July of this year that for unknown reasons I decided to keep even after I deleted backups later than that. I thought that if I restored from a pre-upgrade backup that would replace the theme files with the pre-upgrade themes. But as I noted, it did not.

At the time I inherited the site I made a copy of the theme and theme child stylesheets which I still have. But I’m not sure where in the WordPress to find that same info now to compare it.

Just found where the child style sheet is.

Can I past in the old Suffusion theme style sheet (not the one for the Child) and return to the good old days?

No don’t copy and paste anything. That is not the way how WP works.

For your problem, I suggest you contact Aquoid and speak to them if they have old copies to download.

You can also ask them any questions you might have. Because these are Premium Themes, we don’t know their coding style so it is difficult to advice here. Your best bet is to ask them.

    Good luck.
