As you seem to be using a Microsoft IIS, you need to install and configure an additional plugin like Easy WP Smtp in order for the emails to work. This is because IIS based webservers do not allow native sending of emails via PHP.
Cheers
I even tried installing Easy WP SMTP plugin, but still the problem problem persists. I configured Easy WP SMTP using my gmail credentials and when tried to send the test mail, it showed me the error: “SMTP connect() failed.”
I’m stuck!

As long as Easy WP Smtp/or any other Plugin is not able to connect to your email account you will not be able to send emails via wordpress at all.
I am not sure how to configure gmail smtp. There must be something in the google help-docs I guess. It definitely is out of our scope. But they guys of Easy Wp Smtp are pretty fast with their help as well.
The best set up would be if you’d use an email ending with your own domain name. This way it should be rather easy to enter the email credentials in Easy WP Smtp and have it successfully connect to your email account.
Okay, thanks anyway for the alternative.
My plugin has a Connectivity Test that will tell if you any of your ports are open to the SMTP server. That’s your first step. https://wordpress.org/plugins/postman-smtp/
My plugin also supports sending mail with the Gmail API over port 443, in case the SMTP ports are blocked. Try it out.

Hey Postman, thanks for jumping in!
We’ve had a look at your plugin and did some tests in combination with PlanSo Forms. Postman is working and the configuration you provide is really great!
The only thing that is not reflected is the “From”-settings which are overwritten by your plugin. So neither the from name nor the from email is taken from the PlanSo Forms configuration but from the values provided in postman setup. Is there any configuration we are missing or can you update your plugin to take provided settings?
Yes, in Configure Manually > Message you can disable the “Force this email….” options so that the plugin’s From header takes precedence.

Ok this is great! Thanks for pointing that out!
We’re going to suggest “postman-smtp” from now on for smtp-sending!
Cheers
Thank you guys! You saved my day!
Now this is what I meant in my review when I raved about the excellent support here!
