Support » Theme: Hemingway » how can I get rid of the right column and use the whole width of the page?

  • hi,

    I use the hemingway theme.

    I realized that I do not need the right column.

    So I disactivated it..

    Now there is empty space where the right column was.

    But I want to use the whole width of the page, or at least have my pages centered.

    How could I do this?

    Thanks, M.

  • Under the “Appearance” tab, click “Editor” and you should be taken to the “Stylesheet” box. From here, scroll to the “2. Structure” section and find this block of code:

    .content { width: 65%; }
    .content.center { margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; }
    .content.full-width { width: 100%; }

    .sidebar { width: 27.5%; }

    Change the “content width” to 100% and the “sidebar width” to 0%. You’re supposed to create a child theme first, but I prefer not to mess with it – however, this means you’ll have to redo the code whenever you update the theme.
