@Semanticfield You need to:
- Locate the default.po file in wp-content\themes\customizr\lang folder and download it to your computer.
- Download Poedit
- Open the default.po file and start translating the strings. Be careful not to insert special characters without using the tricks to make them acceptable (follow the English example). E.g.
"featured image" becomes
\"featured image\" in Poedit.
- Save the file as zh_CN.po (or zh_HK or zh_TW, depending on the translation that you did).
- Once you've finished, send the .po and .mo file (the latter gets saved automatically at the same time that you save the .po file) to Nikeo via the contact form on http://www.themesandco.com
You will find it useful to keep a WordPress dashboard / Customize'it! window open, so you can see where the strings are in context.
WordPress China may have some useful tips for you [I can't tell :-) ]. I also find it useful to search for other themes' .po files on the web, as sometimes you can understand how common WordPress/theme terms are translated. So search on Google for
Also, install the Chinese version of wordpress, so you can see how common terms have been translated in WordPress itself.
