I’m not sure where exactly in your theme this is located. An easy way to locate it though is to go through your theme editor, use the find option in your browser and just search every file for “Subpage for”.
It’ll probably be in your singlepost.php or archives.php file, though. Then all you need to do is change “Subpage for” to whatever you want it to say.

Adam,
I’ve looked in singlepost.php and archives.php and sidebar and more and can’t find it. It’s mystifying me as to where it is.

Have you tried using the search feature in your browser to search every file with your theme editor? It’s bound to be there. Try searching for just “Subpage” or even just “Sub” as there might be some syntax stopping you from finding it.
What theme are you using? Give me a link to it and I’ll download and try and find it.
Have you checked in page.php?
It was in functions.php in this code:
echo'<div id=”subpages”><h2>Subpages for ‘; echo $parent_title;
I assume that when I change “Subpages for” I should leave the space before the apostrophe.
Yes I believe you should leave a space, but I’m not too code savy.
