I’ve been podcasting for several years using Seriously Simple Podcasting and I’ve come to a point where I want to make a short introduction episode to orient new listeners that will show up as the first post in my feed.

I tried adjusting the number in the “Post Attributes: Order” side bar from zero to one, but that didn’t seem to do anything (even when I switched a different episode from the default zero to 2). In case it matters, until now I’ve let all of my posts stick with the default zero.

Is there a way to send a new post to a different location in my feed?

Hi there. Episode ordering is determined by the Publish date of your episode in WP. So if you want to backdate an episode you’d just need to make the publish date be prior to the first regular episode you created.

Hope that helps and let us know if you need anything else.

Thanks! This works great and is exactly what I needed.

For those people who are going to be doing this, back dating something as you post it seems to have avoided triggering at least some of apps that automatically download new episodes (which is good for a new listener introduction, as longtime listeners are unlikely to be interested in it). If you want something to go into everyone’s feed I’d suggest posting it regularly and then back dating it a week later (I did this for my podcast teaser, and that seemed to work fine).
