    I need to add & l t ; (without the spaces) to a code snippet but it automatically turns it into the < sign. I tried disabling “Ampersand cleanup” but this messes up the ampersands in all my other code snippets.

    in the markup itself, you cannot use it because the webbrowser will process it as html tag. therefor all html specialchars have to be escaped.

    The Gutenberg+TinyMCE plugin automatically converts these chars, as well as the low-level content processor – it cannot turned off since it would break your whole webbpage!

    So it is not possible to display these 4 characters in a row?

    in case you want to display escape sequences in your html you have to escape the escape sequence using & amp ;

    Can you tell me what exactly I have to write down to display the sequence from the title without spaces?

    It actually escaped the & sign automatically like you described but it still turns the whole thing into a < sign

    it seems that there is an issue within Gutenberg (auto formatting/repair) which transforms the escape characters automatically – this requires some rework of the plugin … sorry

    No problem. Altough I’m not using Gutenberg, I’m still using the Classic editor.

    additionally, it’s technically impossible for now since the escape sequences will be resolved by EnlighterJS

    at the moment i’ve no reliable solution how to change this

    issue: https://github.com/EnlighterJS/EnlighterJS/issues/109

    Alright, thank you for the heads up!

    the issue has been addressed in the upcoming EnlighterJS v3.4.0 release regarding the TinyMCE editor – a solution for Gutenberg is still not available
