    Hi,
I am practically an amateur to wordpress. I got hold of Ridizain while looking for a theme for my personal blog. First of all great work, specially the ability to change colors is cool.

while adding the features post grid, i am having some problems.
    1) how can I set a particular post to show in featured items i.e. like select a check box or something to specify that this post is to be show in featured, and no other post?
    2) is it possible to change the time of the slider to slide?
    3) can i select the number of characters that are shown in excerpt of the featured post to show below the featured post title? how?

I dont have too much of php knowlegdge, but if some change in code is required, I am willing to proceed. I like this theme too much and would like to know how to customize it.

    Hello Jatinsengar,

    1) how can I set a particular post to show in featured items i.e. like select a check box or something to specify that this post is to be show in featured, and no other post?

When writing the post you’ll need to give it a tag that you wish to use for the Featured Section i.e. “showcase” – you can then add this tag to the options found in the Composer >> Ridizain Featured Content tab. For best results you need at least 3 posts if using the 3 column grid and 4 if using the 4 column grid options.

    2) is it possible to change the time of the slider to slide?

Currently this is not possible but its a featured that is being considered for future updates.

    3) can i select the number of characters that are shown in excerpt of the featured post to show below the featured post title? how?

Again, at the moment this options is not available – not included due to the limited space in which to hold the excerpt. But I will be looking in incorporating this in a future update subject to satisfactory tests.

The best way to get to grips with PHP and/or CSS coding is to start with a child theme. Copy what you want to change from the parent theme in to your child theme and do your edits – if you mess up you can always start again 🙂

Hope that helps answer your questions – if there’s anything else I can help with please feel free to ask.

Hi zulf, I have a suggestion which I believe must have come to you also. if it would be possible to create the slider of the featured posts grid, then it would take more posts I suppose. So it would support dual functionality grid cum slide. I am telling you this because while setting up featured at my blog, the idea came to me.

thanks again for the theme. keep up the good work. all the best.

Thank you for the suggestion – a neat one too.

I’m currently exploring that option and the possibility of implementing it – need to work out the feasibility of including it as a 3rd option as opposed to in place of the grid.

Its on the TODO list and hopefully it will be an addition in a future update soon.

hi sorry again to bother you. I am using ridizain at vellablogger.com.
My problem at the moment is that the featured section is not touching the right and left sides of the screen. I have seen the theme working at other sites too and in that the featured goes to full width of the screen. The images that I have used are scaled down to fit by the theme.
please tell how I can stretch the featured items.

Also there is one more issue I faced,
    – when I changed the setting of the Featured Location -> default-above content sidebar, the first post in the featured section went behind the left side bar. I can see some of the portion of the post. When I reduced the number of posts to display to 3, the post showing at the extreme right was removed, but that at the extreme left was still sneaking behind the left side bar i.e recent posts.

please tell how i can sort these issues out.

    thnks in advance.

The edge to edge configuration was added in v1.0.23 with an option to switch to the box look added in v1.0.24 – have a look at the Ridizain Featured options section and make sure that checkbox is not checked.

For the second issue, I don’t see that problem when look at your site – what resolution are you viewing site at and do you have a cache plugin installed?
