• I have anyone who registers on my site set to be a subscriber. And I just realized that someone who recently registered, and is shown to be a subscriber, was able to create posts!!! They were still in the pending stage waiting to be approved so they were never published. But how the heck were they able to do that? I’m worried now.

  • Shocking. I would double check you setting what a user can do.

I have, everything is correct. I’ve deleted his profile and posts, but he was certainly only set as a subscriber.

Well, I am also surprised. my be some setting should be there for subscriber, admin etc.. like this in the code file. Is that got changed something?

I’m not sure what kind of file you are referring to, but in any case, I have not changed anything that would effect subscriber permissions.

I am having the exact same issue. New subscribers have been able to create posts about solar panels. It’s of course spam, but it’s quite odd because it just started happening within the last two weeks.

Nothing has changed on my end either, this blog that I’m having the issue on is about two years old now, so it’s definitely odd that it’s just happening.
