Hover Area (activates controls) Extends Beyond Top of Slideshow

  • I’m running a Slideshow slideshow in the header on the front page only of a site I’m working on, adapting Toolbox.

The “sensitive” area that activates the controls (pagination or arrows) extends beyond the top of the slideshow by about 45 or 50 pixels. I’ve got it in the header and I have my navigation just above it. With the spacing I prefer, the Slideshow’s hover area effectively usurps my navigation’s roll-over area–navigation only works, for that one page, in a narrow band of approximately the top serifs of the navigation. I tried adding a high z-index to the navigation, to no avail. I have also tried adding 0 margins and 0 padding, and clear: both, to .slideshow and hgroup > img in my style.css.

And then just sometimes it loads so that the slideshow covers up the navigation! (You can see the links underneath when the image fades out.)

It was overlapping with the page material below it, too, until I manually inserted a <br/> before and after the slideshow code in the header.php file–which of course creates a validation problem.

What can I do? It seems to behave fine on other pages, where I have it in the page text or in a sidebar widget.

This seems to be caused by CSS rules in your theme, rather than by the slideshow itself.

Could you please provide me with a link to your website?
