WordPress Multisite and simply having multiple WordPress sites are not the same thing, and my own separate domains (one Primary domain and two Add-On domains at my host and not inside WordPress) are each cPanel-assigned to one’s own unique sub-folder without any domain ever being a sub-domain.
Thanks Leejosepho, may be I know the difference. I was trying to explain that I tried both but having issues one way or other.
So on my first attempt, I enabled WP multisite and created a network of sites and enabled different themes for each site and within WP, and when I view the front end I was getting the desired result, but I was having issues configuring the cPanel so that a Visitor typing the URL get the website. This was because, even though I enter the sub-directory where these other domains reside, it does not get physically created.
Then I tried installing WP after creating the sub-directories and installing WP in these sub-directories. Again I could get everything going except that when the visitor click on a menu item it shows the primary domain name.
Thanks,

There is more than one way to get a completely-separate Add-On Domain installed and working, but the primary requirement is that the Add-On Domain first be cPanel-assigned to its own ‘/public_html/addon1/’ sub-folder (as known by whatever name) before any browser ever goes to ‘addon1.com’ to begin the actual installation of its own-and-unique database (with or without first setting that up at the server and in the Add-On’s wp-config.php file). Things are a bit different with *sub-domains* in sub-folders, but I have never seen an Add-On Domain end up displaying the name of my Primary Domain.
Thanks leejosepho.
Here is the link, try clicking on one of the links, it shows the primary domain.
