    Hello,

We have built a blog on the domain: http://www.astylisheventblog.com; which we purchased through an upgrade bundle on wordpress.com – Transaction i.d: 1FV384827V785843E and currently the DNS is pointed to a blue host account – but unfortunately this blue host account is now suspended, meaning we can no longer access our wordpress site/blog!!

What I wanted to know was two things:

1.) Is it possible to transfer the blog domain back to wordpress to host, as it originally was?

    and if not

2.)if we were to set up a new account with another hosting company like GoDaddy for instance, We were advised that in order to migrate the content of our wordpress site to their hosting servers, we would also need to change/point the DNS to them, but as our site is down, we cannot access the WordPress Admin section of our site to be able to do this!!, we were told that we would need to contact wordpress to find out how we access the Admin section of our blog/site to be able to redirect the DNS to the new hosting company.

I hope to hear from from somone soon as our blog has been down for almost 3 weeks and we desperately need it up and running agin!

I’m sorry but you are in the wrong place. These forums are for self-hosted WordPress sites only. Please try asking your question on http://en.forums.wordpress.com/

    hello esmi,

thank you for replying to my post, but our site/blog is self hosted – it is hosted as i mentioned in my post – it is currently hosted through Blue Host – but the blue host account is currently suspended – so i am simply trying to find out if:

1.) Is it possible to transfer the blog domain back to wordpress to host, as it originally was?

    and if not

2.)if we were to set up a new account with another hosting company like GoDaddy for instance, We were advised that in order to migrate the content of our wordpress site to their hosting servers, we would also need to change/point the DNS to them, but as our site is down, we cannot access the WordPress Admin section of our site to be able to do this!!, we were told that we would need to contact wordpress to find out how we access the Admin section of our blog/site to be able to redirect the DNS to the new hosting company.

    thanks!

    our site/blog is self hosted

It is not self-hosted if you purchased the custom dns option at wordpress.com. Your site would still be hosted at wordpress.com but was previously using a custom domain name. That is not the same as self-hosting WordPress. wordpress.org does not host any sites other than this one.

    Hi Esmi,

Sorry i’m a newbie, so if i’m honest don’t understand what you just said (covers face) we purchase a custom DNS from wordpress.com – we purchased our domain name from them (unless thats what you meant?) our site isn’t hosted by wordpress, it’s currently being hosted by Blue Host and when we log in to the admin panel it’s to wordpress.org – does that not make it self hosted?

we purchase a custom DNS from wordpress.com

Then you would not be self-hosting. The custom dns option is only available to wordpress.com sites.

ok i see… this is all so joyously confusing.. ok so do you know if it’s possible to simply point the DNS back to wordpress.com?
