Host requires path to PHP?

My web host is saying that all PHP files have to start with #!/usr/local/bin/php. I added this to install.php and that made it work. Are there any workarounds to adding this to every document?

If I ever do a wordpress upgrade will it then remove that addition?

I’m setting up wordpress on an old university web server, and can’t get a different host.
