host problem with my blog

i want users of my blog to register before they can post comments
but when they register they dont recieve any email confirmation link.
now when i tried to reset password this is what i recieve.
“The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…”
can someone help me out?
