  • Hello
    I am new to WordPress , However I have done my research and have a slight idea of choosing WordPress to create a website. Today I wanted to test WordPress to see how it works before purchasing a domain and through my research I have found out that WampServer is providing such solution, But I am having trouble at the WordPress installation by getting an error of host doesn’t exist.
    Here is what Ive done:
    Installed WampServer
    copied word press to WWW folder
    created a username, screen shot:
    configured wp-config-sample.php accordingly, screen shot:
    Inserted the info: Screen shot:
    And here is the result I get, screen shot:

    And at the end I get an error of databse, I am fairly new and Im only trying to create a simple website to show case my designs on website and was hoping to see if WordPress is my solution without purchasing a host at first.
    What can I do to fix this?

  • Change your MySQL hostname entry to;

    define('DB_HOST', 'localhost');

    …and test the result.

    Thank you for your respond. I did the change you mentioned and the result is still “Error establishing a database connection”
    Here is the changes I made and my process

    Confirm that the database named test2013 was successfully created and is listed in your database list in phpMyAdmin. Select the database and confirm that the database shows a valid user with the correct user name and password, and that the user has all privileges on your WordPress database. Lastly, the error is indicative of mismatched information or errant database user permissions, so make sure your database username and password are identical – right down to case or any special characters. I can’t think of any other issue that would cause that error other than perhaps the MySQL service itself not running.

    [edit] ahhh… could it be something this easy? I just noticed that in your screenshots of the wp-config file, Notepad++ shows the file you are editing with the name wp-config-sample.php. Did you remember to rename it wp-config.php and save it?

    You’ve already filled in the config data manually, so try saving that file as wp-config.php, then visit localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php and see if the install routine will run for you from there.

    Hello Clayton, Thanks so much for your advice.
    Unfortunately I uninstalled the app and im not able to confirm if your suggested fix will work, However I will keep this thread on my mind and refer back If I had more issues in the future, Thanks alot again.
