    have you actually spoken to hostgator directly? this sounds very odd…

    Yep, I have been on to them all morning … I have even tried to verify by replying to the email they sent me – but it just keeps coming back

    are you using their onsite chat feature? it all feels rather odd, like your site’s being held to ransom.

    the email may be legit and it may have bounced back because it’s an automated system generated email and not a send and receive system. keep at it, you should be able to verify who you are when you’re on the chat feature as it usually asks for you to provide your billing portal details.

    I have spent all morning talking to them on live chat on and off) I have done nothing else all day – my site is down I have several thinks to it which people will be clicking on and of course I am losing money. Although Hostgator will admit that the problem is there end – they still wont un frezze my account, not even temporarily ! They say that my wordpress is part of their hostgator account. ! I am sssooooooooo frustrated and angry !!!

    SEVEN hours in total I have spent on this today !

    The say it is because I need to verify my account with my drivers licence ID. but that was stolen a month back

    there will be another way to get around this. some social security number or something.

    Yes I provide my billing details for verification to chat to them – but they want passport and photo ID… I offered to send to another email address of their choice not related to hostgator but they said they could only accept documents sent to their hostgator email address. I then POSTED my documents on my facebook page and sent them a link – But they still said they could’nt accept that either ?????

    Sorry you are having such difficulty,, but no one here can help you with a billing or other issue with a host. This is not the appropriate place for this discussion – closing this thread.

    Just to clarify this – WordPress.ORG just provides FREE software – but is not connected to hosting companies and cannot solve issues like this – so any issue with the hosting, you need to resolve directly with the company.
