    Just a note for others needing to install WordPress on a hosted system.

    In using FTP, make sure you use passive mode when uploading files. In FileZilla this is under the Site Manager Advanced settings for a given site. Check the “use passive mode” radio button. I’m using version 2.2.18 of FileZilla.

    Just a note that I’ve experienced “Error 500: Script Execution Failure” twice recently at

    Reuploaded using both ascii and automatic upload in FileZilla, confirmed permissions (755), and that didn’t help.

    This seems to be a recurring problem at (at least on the free sites). A search of their forums returns multiple threads about the problem.

    It’s possible certain servers are not configured correctly so if you experience the problem don’t kill yourself. Consider a different host–you get what you pay for!
