• hello,

We are interested in wordpress and checking the requirements we see “It is also essential that your host allows remote connections.”

What type of remote connections are those? http? mysql?both?

    thanks!

  • Hello ImanolApaolaza,
Yes by remote connections it means http and mysql. Ideally if you are running apache and mysql on the same server, you need not open the ports of mysql for remote connections.

Incase you have apache-wordpress running on one server and mysql running on another server then you should open TCP/3306 open on the mysql server.

As such you should keep the TCP/80 open on the apache-wordpress server, else other users will obviously not be able to access your blog. 😉

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Abhishek.
