Support » Plugin: EWWW Image Optimizer » Horrible Spanish translation

  • Resolved almarma

I’ve checked today the plugin I’m using since several months ago, and I’ve found it’s partially translated to Spanish, but it’s so horrible translated, it’s quite difficult to understand what do the translated options mean. It’s a “Google Translate” style translation, without corrections. So I think it’s much better right now to remove the translations and wait until somebody else makes it better. I’m sorry to say, but sometimes people want to help, and they do the opposite.

The spanish translation is currently up for adoption (and has been for a while). If you don’t feel it helps you, you can delete the ewww-image-optimizer-es_ES files from the languages subfolder of the plugin (should be a .mo and .po)

Also, if anyone else cares to comment on this particular issue, I would consider removing it, but it’s hard for me to make a judgment based on one report.

    Hi Nosilver4u,

Thanks for your answer. I understand it’s only one complain, so let’s see if any other sees and complains too 😉

By the way, thank you very much for your plugin! It’s awesome and really useful!

Hi @nosilver4u, thank you for such a great plugin 🙂 I had a look at the Spanish translation and I can see that it needs some updating as per @almarma comment above.

If you want I am willing to translate the plugin into Spanish for you.

Let me know what you think.

@mbrsolution, that would be great. The translator reference is here:

Along with the template file (.pot), you will probably want to grab the latest version of the spanish translation file so you aren’t starting from scratch. Although, from what almarma said, some things may need to be re-done anyway. You can contact me via the form on that page if you have any further questions about translating.

Hi @nosilver4u I have almost completed the Spanish translation 🙂

Just thought of letting you know.

great to hear, I’m really excited to have an updated, quality translation. Thank you so much for your hard work on this.

Hi @nosilver4u I have completed the translation 🙂

Let me know your e-mail address so that I can send you the zipped files.

I also want to let you know that the following cannot be translated.

Under Advanced Settings >> Folders to optimize

Provide paths containing images to be optimized using scheduled optimization or ‘Optimize More’ in the Tools menu.

The above cannot be translated. Unless I am missing something.

I guess what is left now is for any Spanish speaking users to verify if my translation is good enough.

I am open for any suggestions.

    Kind regards

Hi @nosilver4u I tried to submit the translation zip file through your contact us website but every time I tried to submit the form it returned with an error. I will wait until you contact me 🙂

    Kind regards

    Hola mbrsolution!

Hi @almarma, you are most welcome 😉

    Greetings as well 🙂

@mbrsolution, you did exactly what I would have suggested, so I’ll double-check the contact form. It was working yesterday (got an email through it)

Seems to be working now, if you get an error, post it here please.

And just to make sure, you should be using the contact form at

Hi nosilver4u, I have tried two different browsers. Just to let you know that I am also attaching a zip file.

This is the message I get.

Please make corrections below and try again.
    Invalid Input – Spam?

Actions taken. When typing the captcha I have tired upper case, lower case following what ever captcha I receive. In the zip file there are not funny characters.

You might like to send me your e-mail address…:) will be much quicker…
