Hi @jezzerisin
I’m really sorry to hear this happened. I can imagine how frustrating it is to see your existing Divi site changed after you’ve spent months polishing it.
To clarify what that “Importing” step does: it’s part of Masteriyo’s setup wizard, designed for people who are starting a new LMS site and want to import one of our starter templates (pages, menus, and branding) to get launched quickly. That step is optional — the wizard gives you the choice to import or skip.
If the import option is run on an already-built website, it can add things like demo pages/menus and apply template branding, which is exactly what you’re describing. That’s not a site destruction in the sense of deleting content, but it can feel like a mess because it overlays a lot of starter content on top of an existing setup.
On the support side: I’m sorry if our reply came across as dismissive — that’s not the experience we want anyone to have. We should have focused on helping you roll things back quickly.
If you’re open to it, we can help you clean this up, please continue with the chat if you have already one open in our site or create a new chat request:
- remove the imported pages/menus,
- revert branding/template changes,
- and get your site back to the way it was (and if you have a backup, restoring is usually the fastest path).
Sanjip (Team Masteriyo)
Thanks.
I repeatedly asked your team about the Menu changes, they repeatedly denied that such a thing could happy.
When you are installing a new plugin, you follow the set up proceedures as suggested.
There was no warning given of what changes would be made to my site.
Irresponsible.
My site is now fixed, with no help from your team
Hello @jezzerisin,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We completely understand your concern regarding the template import and the issues it caused on your site.
Regarding the warning message, we do provide information before importing a template. The message displayed is: “Importing this template adds content to your site and overrides current theme settings.” For your reference, you can see a screenshot here: https://tinyurl.com/2a5cmn7k.
In your case, our support team suggested a few options:
- Restore your site from a backup taken before importing the demo template.
- Contact your hosting provider to restore the site if no backup is available.
- Manually delete the dummy posts and content imported with the demo template.
It seems our previous messages with these suggestions may not have reached you, which could be why it felt like the support team was not helping.
We also acknowledge that the warning message could be made clearer, and we will discuss this with our team for future updates.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.
Best regards,
