Support » Plugin: Gutenberg » Not effective

  • As a text editor, I found it really horrible. It looks more like a page builder than a text editor. Maybe for the pages it would be fine, but I can not imagine publishing my post using that annoying text editor.

Why would I need to separate the content of a normal post in several blocks? Why the text can´t be justified? At the end, I have to do more clicks and lose more time on things that, currently, can be done easily.

Actually it does not look bad, but as a text editor it does not seem effective, because it has less options to edit the text … If you improve the text block and add all the options we have in the classic editor and reduce the need to use blocks for everything, I think it has a good future.

In its current state, i hope it is optional… or that it never stops being an alternative plugin.

@parapcfull thanks for taking time to leave a review and test the new experience. Could I ask do you use a page builder along with WordPress? I ask to frame what experience you maybe are used to.

Gutenberg will be looking at more ‘page builder’ aspects as the phases go beyond the first one. However, it is right now as you say not providing what you’d expect from that.

You certainly make an interesting observation about ‘modes’ that has come up a little in this project. The latest version of Gutenberg does come with a focus mode that answers some of this a little. Did you get to explore that?
