 * I also visited the DataTables site but couldn’t work out what my problem was 
   to be able to work out what solution I am looking for.
 * Either horizontal scrolling, or being able to specify to show only the first 
   two columns and then use the drop down plus sign to see the rest of the data 
   would be just fine.
 * Many thanks if you can direct me to implementing a solution

 * Yes indeed. Thanks so much and sorry to worry you. That is working fine and that
   post is going to help me understand the DataTables syntax better. This is a great
   plugin and I have sent a donation.
