Support » Themes and Templates » Horizontal menu’s problem – 404

  • Hi there. Im using the BLIX theme, created by Sebastian Schmieg

    The problem I have is with Archives, About and Contact pages in the horizonatl menu.

    According to the readme file they are activated like this

    Select Write > Write Page
    Fill in Page Title
    Select archives as Page Template
    Select archives as Page slug
    Click Create New Page

    When I do so, the new part of the menu appears, called “Achives”, and has the URL of, however I get 404 when I click on it.

    In the header.php, which comes with the theme this menu goes this way

      <li<?php if (is_home()) echo ” class=\”selected\””; ?>>“>Index

      $pages = BX_get_pages();
      if ($pages) {
      foreach ($pages as $page) {
      $page_id = $page->ID;
      $page_title = $page->post_title;
      $page_name = $page->post_name;
      if ($page_name == “archives”) {
      (is_page($page_id) || is_archive() || is_search() || is_single())?$selected = ‘ class=”selected”‘:$selected=”;
      echo “<li”.$selected.”>Archives

      elseif($page_name == “about”) {
      (is_page($page_id))?$selected = ‘ class=”selected”‘:$selected=”;
      echo “<li”.$selected.”>About

      elseif ($page_name == “contact”) {
      (is_page($page_id))?$selected = ‘ class=”selected”‘:$selected=”;
      echo “<li”.$selected.”>Contact

      elseif ($page_name == “about_short”) {/*ignore*/}
      else {
      (is_page($page_id))?$selected = ‘ class=”selected”‘:$selected=”;
      echo “<li”.$selected.”>$page_title

    Any help?
    Thanks in advance.

  • I am just wondering if your .htaccess is writeable?

    Hm… well I have permalinks set to this /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/

    and the .htaccess is 644, should I CHMOD to something different?

    Oh thx. a lot, I changed it to 777, edited the categories, and now it works fine! There is nothing in the readme about this so thank you Root!

    erm, I highly recommened you NOT have htaccess set to 777 unless you want some bored little git trying to find away to access your site and finds he can change the rules using th htaccess
