  • Been using WP for years. My very first 5 minute install went without a hitch. All my upgrades worked perfectly. For years nothing ever went wrong… it was really starting to piss me off. 😉 Today for the first time my website died – I am no longer a WP virgin.

I hit BACK in my browser and got the following error…

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /homepages/31/d106943314/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/breadcrumb-navxt/breadcrumb_navxt_admin.php on line 53

I couldn’t access the admin so I FTPd in and changed the folder name of the navxt plugin assuming that this would disable the plugin and let me back in to admin.

My front page came back but all the other pages give a 404 and trying to log into admin gives a 500 error…

Error 500 – Internal server error

An internal server error has occured!
    Please try again later.

Any thought on a solution or is this a “contact your host” job?

  • OK problem solved. Seems to be an issue with htaccess. Made some changes the other day and site worked fine. Reverting to previous copy has fixed the site. Will need to revist the changes to see what the problem was.
