hook woocommerce_catalog_ordering not working

I am using the plugin searchandfilter to search. And I’m using the woocommerce archive-product template file to display the results.
However the category filter – display results by popularity / price etc is not working.
The hook woocommerce_catalog_ordering is being called with
do_action( 'woocommerce_before_shop_loop' );
but only div class=”storefront-sorting”></div> is showing empty in the view source of the page.
