Hook getting fired when page is published

    Hi Experts,
    I am a newbie to WordPress though having knowledge in different languages like .Net and other CMS systems. I am creating a new plugin in wordpress but it seems that the publish_post hook is not getting fired when the page is published. Can you all please help me fixing it..
