I’m a complete novice trying to setup my own hobby store site. With everything so easy to change I find it really strange that the Storefront theme doesn’t have the option to just edit these pieces of text ie: “Shop by Category”, “New In”, “Fan Favorites”, “On Sale”.

I have searched the previous threads on this issue and the suggestion to use the plugin Loco Translate. However this novice is struggling to make sense of it, also it really seems like overkill to have a whole new language for something so simple.

Any way I can find this code and edit it directly to what I would like it to be?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there!

If you want to remove/change the order of the groups of products on the homepage, you can with the Homepage control plugin which you can download from https://wordpress.org/plugins/homepage-control/ and see the documentation at https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/homepage-control/.

If you just want to re-name them (but still have them pull up on the, for example, sale products and call them Weekly Promotions), then you can either use Loco Translate to translate the string inside the theme. Or, the Storefront Powerpack plugin at https://woocommerce.com/products/storefront-powerpack/ will allow you to change the wording (and many many other customizations to your Storefront theme).

    Hope this helps!

    Hi again,

Hope everything worked out! Since we haven’t heard back, I’m going to mark this thread as “resolved” now. Please feel free to create a new thread if you have any further questions.

    Resolved.

I agree this really should be standard and simple – like using widgets via appearance, or shortcodes on the home-page, or in customisation or something.

But in the meantime, please could you give us the functions.php method for changing titles and ideally to reorder the sections as well? Should just be an easy one-liner added to the child theme I imagine?

    Thanks …

    Hi @sonic1243

could you give us the functions.php method for changing titles and ideally to reorder the sections as well?

There are some functions included in these posts that you may find helpful. However, as Melinda mentioned, the free Homepage control plugin is also useful in customizing the Storefront Homepage.
