I have a problem with homepage title after upgrade from 2.0 to 2.0.1. The homepage title has been rewritten with title of the latest post instead of the one I set in plugin homepage setting. It cannot be changed or fixed whether I tried every single methods I could think of. Could you please help?

Same issue when update to 2.0.2
On front page I use static page.
With 2.0.0 tittle was taken from AIOSP settings.
With 2.0.1 (and 2.0.2) tittle like Static page name + general reading setting from WP... And I can't change it. Downgrade to 2.0.0 and all fine

I've had the same problem since 2.0 came out.

In the end, I change the title tag in my theme to include the following:

<?php if(is_home()) echo 'Your blog title here'; else wp_title(); ?>

  5. Hi Ivan, The title, description and keywords for the homepage has always been taken from the Home Title, Home Description and Home Keywords fields in All in One SEO Pack, General Settings screen regardless of whether you have a static homepage or your blog posts show on your homepage. This code has never changed and continues to work fine when we test it.

We typically see problems with themes that try to overwrite what All in One SEO Pack outputs because the theme usually loads after the plugin. Check and make sure your theme isn't doing something to overwrite All in One's meta.

Actually, I'm going to correct myself. Version 2.0 of the plug-in was fine - 2.0.1 introduced the problem.

Nothing has changed in my theme. Indeed, the problem still arises if I use the default WordPress theme, Twenty Twelve, so it's not a plug-in issue.

If I set a post as sticky, the homepage's title will become the title of that post. If I haven't got a sticky post selected, the homepage's title will be that of the most recent post.

This happens no matter what options I select in the plug-in's settings page.

  7. Hi iwords,

Can you post the URL for your site so we can see this problem.

I've temporarily taken out my fix (as mentioned above), so you'll see the homepage's title will be that of the sticky post.

I have fix the issue by revert back to 1.6.x.x version and it's all done. Waiting for the next update to see if it could be any better. My url is http://www.mybestratedwebhosting.com but you may not see the issue right now since I made the fix the way I mentioned. However I will see how testdriven.co.uk would be fixed since they have the same problem like me.

  10. Hi iwords,
What do you have set in the Home Description field on the General Settings screen in All in One SEO Pack?

Home Title: TestDriven - UK-based car news, reviews and road tests, updated daily

Home Description: Created by a group of freelance journalists tired with the way established motoring publications focus their content on the experience of driving rather than owning, TestDriven aims to produce reviews that are more critical of each manufacturers efforts.

I've only just noticed - that means the plug-in is also incorrectly setting the homepage's meta description and keywords to be that of the most recent (or sticky) post.

Just like Szperm, I reverted back to this version http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/all-in-one-seo-pack.1.6.15.3.zip and the problem has gone away.

Any luck tracking this down, wpsmort?

I'm going to revert to a previous version in the meantime.

With regards to the problem I experienced, everything was working fine on the desktop theme but on the mobile theme (I use mobilepress plugin) the home page kept showing the title of the first blog post entry on the site.

I, too, experience the same issue, post v2.0.1.

On the homepage, the title, meta description and meta keywords are pulling from the most recent post in the loop – rather than than the configured Home Page Settings. I can confirm that this happens both with my custom theme and with the default theme.

    cliquenoir,

What do you have selected for all your settings under Settings -> Reading -> Front Page Displays..., and what version of WordPress are you using?

    Hi Peter,

Interesting catch. Initially, neither radio button was selected – and probably has not been for some time. After selecting Your latest posts, the plugin is returning the correct values.

    Thanks for the insight.

    Cheers.

why is this marked as resolved when it's not? all 3 of my website is still not showing home title even with 2.0.2.

the only solution i had is to revert back 1.6

Yeah this is irresponsible at all by mark as resolved while it isn't. I have seen many peoples here are having similar issues but none of the staff even reply on the actual subject or the exact way to fix it. I haven't seen any minor update to fix this either. (FYI even 2.0.2 wasn't a fix to anything at all.)

I was considering about purchase their commercial version but now I put it off and I think ones who are reading this might feel the same.

you weren't the one who marked this as resolved? I thought only the thread starter could do so

No I didn't. Why should I do that since the problem has not been "solved" yet? :) I did watch to see if any useful reply from developers or other users about way to fix it but nothing really comes out.

It is good to heard that there are "many" users have the same problem. It does mean I am not alone who is facing this. But it is too bad to being ignored by developers. I hope some minor change, 2.0.3 at least, to fixing this might release but there was nothing more since then.

    Sxperm,

To my knowledge, you already resolved your own issue, as per your second post in this thread; and I certainly couldn't help you troubleshoot it if you aren't using latest version of the plugin. As for people with other issues, I'd encourage them to start their own threads, as, honestly, every issue is different. You might notice that there have been similar threads that have been resolved as well, to the satisfaction of the people involved.

    Hi Peter,

Is was resolved because I switched back to older version but you honestly think that it was really resolved? Even saying so I didn't mark them as resolved myself and someone marked them as resolved instead.

I agree that each person problem are unique and may not apply one to all. However from what I have seen in this thread, most of them are quite similar in pattern and issue. I wonder even there are more newer threads will help solve this actual issue since this one has not been solved yet.

I do not personally think switched back to older version can be considered as "resolved" but if you think that way then it's up to you. :) I'm glad to hear that other people issue were resolved anyway.

    Sxperm,

If you aren't actively interested in getting your issue fixed and instead find some other workaround that you are satisfied with, then I consider that to be a resolution of your issue. Also, to be able to help you at all in the first place, I would have to see the behavior of the current plugin on your website, and have your cooperation in troubleshooting the issue. We often see issues due to conflicts with other plugins, with other themes, and also due to setting misconfigurations in WordPress; sometimes there are actual bugs in the plugin; sometimes there are other issues exposed due to changes in how the plugin operates. Even issues that look similar often turn out to not be similar at all, and there likely is not one single issue or cause at work here. That's why we work to help troubleshoot these issues.
