    Hi all,

I am having trouble with my site homepage. It is stuck on an old version and I don’t know how to fix it.

My homepage, which looks wrong: http://vagabondbeat.com
What my homepage SHOULD look like: http://vagabondbeat.com/0/

Now, I have tried several things. I tried clearing my browser cache and history. I tried clearing my WP cache. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling JetPack plug-in (which has some problems). None of those things fixed the problem. I also tried to change the theme then change it back. The other pages (/about, /contact, etc.) update with new themes right away, but not the home page, which stays stuck in the past.

Does anyone know why this would happen?

  • try to set the http://vagabondbeat.com/0/ to your homepage.

Settings > Reading > Choose – A Static Page > Select the Front Page

delete 2015 theme and then try activating your theme.

Thanks for the suggestions Alen and lalez.

First I deleted Twenty-Fifteen then reactivated my current theme. This only makes the homepage appear with the wrong content, but now without any theme. It still doesn’t apply the proper content or the current theme.

Next I tried to change the homepage to a static page but in the dropdown box it doesn’t give me the option to set the root page as the static page. Anyway I selected my About page as the homepage instead, but this didn’t change anything at http://vagabondbeat.com, it only applies the change to http://vagabondbeat.com.

I guess what I need to figure out is why my “homepage” is defined as “/0/” instead of in the root directory.

Being a total noob, I have no idea how to do this or where to look for it. Anyone have an idea?

yes, you are right . you dont need /0/

follow this article to change the URL

Ok, changed the site URL to /0/.

This half fixed it. Now when I am on any post page and click on the name of the blog, it takes me to http://vagabondbeat.com/0/ and displays correctly.

    BUT
If I type in http://vagabondbeat.com/ it still shows up wrong, it doesn’t redirect me to http://vagabondbeat.com/0/,

and most importantly, I don’t want my homepage to be or display as http://vagabondbeat.com/.

I’m not sure how it even got to be stuck there. Any ideas on how to move it or fix it? I think maybe what I need to do is delete the homepage template in the root directory and move the one in /0/ to the root?

Is that right? I don’t know how to do that and not sure it would work, I don’t want to make the problem even worse.

what is /0/ ? is it a folder?

also why are you adding /0/ in site URL? in which folder is wordpress installed?

I am not sure what /0 is, I am going through my File Manager and don’t see a folder like that. I enabled show hidden files and still don’t see it.

WordPress is installed in the root directory. I thought about moving it, but I don’t think that’s the problem. The problem, I think, is that some file is pointing the user to a wrong file when they type in the URL of the site (http://vagabondbeat.com), or that the template for the homepage (recent posts) is stored erroneously on some folder?

I opened up .htaccess and index.php and don’t see any reference to the /0…

All my other pages display correctly when I type in their URL or click to links to them. It’s just the correct homepage doesn’t display when I type in http://vagabondbeat.com/.

then you should set wordpres URL and Website URL as vagabondbeat.com and then try as directed in changing the site URL article

then you should set wordpres URL and Website URL as vagabondbeat.com and then try as directed in changing the site URL article

If that doesn’t work, I would also suggest checking your site’s .htaccess file, and make sure it doesn’t include anything that would add that 0.

    I hope this helps.

    Ok, got it fixed.

I gave up and contacted HostGator support and they were able to identify and fix the problem. Yesterday I had tried that but since yesterday I thought it was a plug-in or a theme problem they wouldn’t help me.

The problem was missing default code in the .htaccess file. Not sure why this happened, but they fixed it and the site displays properly now.

Thanks for all your suggestions which helped me narrow down the list of potential issues and describe it properly so tech support would actually help me.
