I recently installed this plugin and I’m working on my homepage. The Focus Keyword was blank up until today and when I entered a phrase it hasn’t turned green. Its amber. What should the Focus Keyword come from? The business title or some content on the page?

Is the meta description and meta keyword necessary anymore? I understand that its not.

There’s also a place for Keywords in Yoast SEO. Is it necessary to put some in there because as I mentioned the meta keyword isn’t being used by Google anymore and I don’t want what I would put there to compete with content on my site or will it?

You don’t need to use meta keywords anymore but you do need focus keywords, SEO title and meta description. Please refer to these:

    Use the best focus keywords
    Write the perfect SEO title
Write clean and meaningful meta description

    Thanks for the help.

I need to put a sitemap.xml into my Google Search Console. Does Yoast SEO generate that file somewhere and give you a URL to enter into GSC or should I use one of the many generators on the web?

See the link as to what is there now. As you see the Title isn’t normal english wording. I should remove it and enter what I want there?

As you see in the Preview has the source code for the page which I assume is because there’s nothing in the Description?

I did enter the Focus KW but I’m not sure if that’s even valid. Should it be some wording from the home page content or whatever I want to put there?

What concerns me is to get green lights, not red or amber lights.

It is recommended to create separate topics for separate issues. That said Yoast SEO generates sitemap_index.xml that you can find from the Yoast SEO -> General -> Features (tab).
