    Hi,

I have recently setup a new website which is hosted with “Fasthosts”, I had created a dummy homepage using their Site Builder application to initially get this started.

I have now decided to use WP to Design my website which i have now installed, selected my theme and activated accordingly.

However my initial homepage I set up, i.e wwww.example.co.uk still exists and i don’t seem to be able to override it with my theme i have selected in WP. I created a new page called homepage however the URL is wwww.example.co.uk/homepage

Have i done something wrong? Help!

    Many thanks

    Kenny

  • What’s your actual URL?

Kenny: A web server can set a priority for which index file is loaded. An HTML website uses index.html. The site builder probably created this file. WordPress uses index.php for the index file. If your web server is set to load index.html first, you may have to delete this file so it looks for an alternative like index.php. I would recommend contacting your web host.

Hi Kurt, Many thanks for your help, I have removed the index.html file from the server and this has worked a treat!

    Thanks Again!!
