Homepage custom layout

Hi all,

I am currently developing a news site, and need to customize the homepage.

This is how it should look:

News of Thursday March 4th 2010
– 14h50 News item 1
– 12h30 News item 2
– 09h30 News item 3

News of Wednesday March 3th 2010
– 15h40 News item 1
– 12h09 News item 2
– 10h40 News item 3

etc…

So basically I want to have let’s say 5 main sections with the last 5 days. Under each day I should display all the posts that were done that day.

Can someone point me in the right direction how to accomplish this? I have been looking through the codex, but didn’t find anything usefull. Maybe there is a plugin for this, but I a probably searching with the wrong keywords.
