• Quick question on home sliders – I checked the theme documentation but couldn’t find the answer there.

The theme has several options for sliders, but while some of them are self-explanatory, I’m not sure what a couple of them actually do.

For the options “Flex Slider”, “Thumb Slider”, and “Carousel Slider”: what do these do, specifically? I’m assuming carousel slider goes through your carousel-type posts similar to how a “latest posts” slider would do. But the others I’m confused on.

I saw a “revolution” slider referenced in the support – I don’t see that one in my list, so I’m assuming it’s a premium feature?

Finally – is there a way to have the home page slider (and sliders on any other pages) only display posts from selected categories? I want to set up a “News and Updates” page that only displays posts from a “news” category, and I don’t want those posts to show up on the home slider. But since the only option for displaying posts (as far as I can tell) is “latest posts”, I’m not sure how to make that happen.

If my questions are answered in the documentation somewhere that I missed, please point me in that direction! If not, any insight into these things would be most helpful.

    Thanks!

  • Hey,

The flex slider is going to work best with images that are all the same size. See here: http://virtuemock.kadencethemes.com/?page_id=436

The thumb slider is the flex slider just with thumbnails.

The carousel slider works better for sliders where your images at not all the same size.. see here: http://virtuemock.kadencethemes.com/?page_id=446

There isn’t a carousel type post just to be clear on that.

Revolution slider is a premium plugin made by the guys at themepunch. It’s a bundled extra that comes with the premium theme.

There isn’t a option to choose a category for the latest posts slider so you would need to use the flex slider for example and manually add links. You can add flex sliders in a page using the “feature” page template.

For more control or better options (and you don’t want to go premium theme) I suggest looking into a slider plugin like the meta slider. There might be some options there that better suit what your looking for with the posts.

    Hope that helps,

    Kadence Themes
