[Resolved] Home post list, if it's paginated, why is it missing rel=noindex,follow?

  • We configured paginated pages to be rel=noindex,follow but on the homepage if it’s paginated it is missing rel=noindex,follow. Is this a bug or is there reasoning behind this?

    The reason I as this is we’re getting blank meta description warnings for pages > 1 on the blog home. These are the pages in the form /blog/page/x/. I looked in config bug it only applies to archive pages. Please let me know if there’s something I’m missing or if it’s a bug.

    jprado,

    That is correct, this is just for archive pages, the homepage itself is not considered to be a paginated page.

    Thanks for the reply. What’s the recommended action for those messages? We have 100 pages and we’re getting warnings from SEO for empty meta descriptions.

    jprado,

    There is now a aioseop_robots_meta filter hook in the plugin that you should be able to use to manage this. Example:

    add_filter( 'aioseop_robots_meta', 'jprado_front_page_robots' );
    function jprado_front_page_robots( $robots_meta ) {
        if ( is_front_page() ) {
            $paged = (get_query_var('paged')) ? get_query_var('paged') : 1;
            if ( $paged > 1 ) $robots_meta = 'noindex,follow';
        }
        return $robots_meta;
    }

    This will work, thanks for the help!
