Alternatively, try deactivating all your plugins and switching to the twentytwelve theme to see if any are causing that problem.
I deactivated all my plugins and switched to the twentytwelve theme and the same problem occurs.
Is this a new site? The reason I ask is that looking at the source view of the home page, what little markup there is, looks like it was made by hand.
Did the person who created the site create an index.html file before deciding to use WordPress? If so, it looks like the home page may be pointing to that original index.html file.
To fix the problem you will either need to remove the index.html file or use an .htaccess redirect.
Any page I that I enter after the backslash, for example if I type in the URL http://www.emergingnow.org/groups it will open up and if I click on any other page (with exception of the home page) it will open.
The site was made in 2010, but within the last 8 months I started managing it.
“To fix the problem you will either need to remove the index.html file or use an .htaccess redirect.” << I’m not quite sure what that means. When I click on editor under appearance on the dashboard I do see index.php is that what you mean?
Not exactly. The index.php has to be there for WordPress to load any page creted under WordPress. I was wondering more about the contents of root level of your site.
I have the hunch that there may be a non WordPress related file, index.html, file in the site.
Did you or anyone who has access to the site recently make changes to the site or the root folder? Upload a file as part of a redesign, test or something similar? The reason I ask is that you say it happens regardless of what theme you use and all your plugins are deactivated.
If you have FTP access to your site, you can look at the folder where index.php is and see if there is another file called index.html or similar.
That’s a good question, we don’t host through go daddy.com but through a person who has a hosting site locally in our state. We he be the person that would have that access or information?
Your hosting provider would definitely be someone worth asking about that. He can take a look to see if any files were recently uploaded.
