Just incase it helps I am using the Avada theme and have very few plug ins installed, just the basic ones, less than 10.
Usually your homepage freezes due to the “slider” because it needs to load first the image and its resources before loading the other components of your page.
Try using a caching plugin. Also what hosting provider do you have, sometimes there are issues with servers.
How large are the images in the slider (the resolution).
Thank you for replying Lordzden and Kmessinger.
I am using Ipage as my host, if I didn’t get the answer on here they were going to be my next port of enquiry but I assumed it was something I had missed or done wrong. I have the W3 total cache plug in running.
I have just checked the resolution sizes and reduced them, they are now 400x 260, they were a fair bit higher, the load time is reduced to between 4 and 7 seconds now.
Is there a idea resolution size for sliders? Out of interest if I reduce them below 200 that will reduce the slider load time but it says something about social media needs them to be above 200×200 to get them picked up. Is that an ok trade off?
Thanks again, being a newbie any advice is good 🙂
Hi There,
the site seams to load up fine for me here in Australia. Not too bad on the speed.
Your load time looks to be about 4.48seconds,
I’ve tested it on:
http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/b8rJDe/http://www.sagepestsolutions.co.uk/
It might be that your hosting is not very good ? I am not sure of iPage I’ve never used them before.
Hope the speed tester works.
Loads a lot faster now. I don’t know about slider image sizes. Perhaps you can contact the developer of the slider.
Thanks for the responses folks, will take a look on the pingdom site 🙂
Cheers all
