  • It seems the menu hasn’t yet set up, so it uses default callback which shows only Pages. Follow this steps to set up your own menu.

On a sidenote, please do not leave Site title and Tagline under Settings > General empty because they are important for site accessibility and SEO. Hide it via Appearance > Header, or via CSS with a proper method.

Also, view your site in various screenwidths. Due to how this theme is designed, consider re-create the header image so that it shows the most important element in the middle.

    Hi Paul,
Fiddled with custom menus as the default menu. I added a custom link to my site’s homepage but the link still won’t appear on the nav bar. Maybe it has something to do with the new template?

I added the title and tagline, and then removed the text in Appearance > Header. Thanks! (That was easier than I thought it’d be!)

Thanks for suggestions re: header size. I noticed that when viewing on my iPhone. Will consider resizing though most users (my students) will be using via computer. Most important issue was menu structure, which appears fine.

Did you assign theme location for the menu you created ?

    1. Create menu (you could have one or many menu sets)
    2. Assign any one of them into theme location (one at a time)

Optional, assign menu to the Custom Nav widgets used in any widget areas that theme provides. ( that’s why there could be many menu created, so that it could be use elsewhere too).
