• Hi,

I’m thinking about eliminating page redirects as per Google suggestion and hiring a developer just to be on the safe side instead of meddling myself with access files.

However, talking about “safe side”: is it safe to give someone over Fiverr or any other freelance websites all my login details?

    What’s the typical procedure there?

Don’t give admin access to anyone you do not trust.

What Steve said, plus do your usual process of taking a backup.

    Thank you Steve and Andrew!

So I guess that you personally wouldn’t give admin access to a developer you don’t know personally?

Rather than use fiverr or other place on the ‘net, go to a local WordPress meetup (search meetup.com) or wordcamp (https://central.wordcamp.org/) and meet some local WP folk and talk through your issue. They may be willing to help or you may hire them — but they’re local and you know where to find them. You’ll also be able to check references and ask for referrals.

I think you have to, if your issue is something which only can be fixed using admin access. In that case, you should always backup your site before giving someone access. After getting work done, change your admin password immediately. That will keep you safe side.

Instead create a new user and give access of that user, bcas to give someone admin access might be risky.

Once they have FTP access they have access to everything.
