On your VPS, try tuning the mysql/maria server to it has enough resources to cache that home page query. You might also look into other server-based caching options. Also, if using PHP-FPM, look at how you’ve got the pools set up, and how the min and max child settings are set.

At the WordPress level, install a caching and minimization plugin. I like the combination of Comet Cache and Autoptimize.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply

I installed total cache and using CDN also. Since this is cloud VPS plan with CND and since this is default WP source without much content I am expecting low TTFB.

But the TTFB is too high compared to other shared hosting servers. Our hosting support says there is no issues from their end.

Please suggest how to trouble shoot.

    Thanks

describe your hosting. CPU/memory/OS, web server, php setup, etc.

Did you look at how the DB server is tuned?

PHP and MySQL are configured by hosting people. Is there any thing I need to check specific

I don’t know anything about Windows servers, so your best bet is to get back to your hosts and ask them to check on things.
