    If I run through network chrome tab I see this

    action=tptn_tracker&top_ten_id=1667&top_ten_blog_id=1&activate_counter=1&top_ten_debug=0

    3-4 sec is definitely huge. It should typically be a few hundred milisec

    Is this a new install or an old one. If very old, please can you check the indices in the Top 10 tables that they have the primary key. You can use the regenerate key / tables options in the Tools page to take care of this. Please do backup before you do.

    The fast tracker is still valid. I use it on all of my sites. Do give it a try.

    An alternative is to try using the Query variable option instead of admin-ajax but this will still be slower than the fast tracker.

    Its total new install, I also already deleted the options available in the Tools tab. I also switched from admin-ajax too but no change.

    Ok, thanks will give the fast tracker a try.

    Cheers

    Also is this on a local install or a main server – there is also a performance impact with local installs.

    Nope Main server, fully optimised without this ajax call site loads easily under 2 sec.
