 * I’m not sure how long this has been going on as I haven’t gotten any sort of
message from my host, but I happened to click on CPU usage in cpanel a few days
ago and noticed that I had warnings there of my site being limited by CPU usage.
 * In my logs I could see something was hitting admin-ajax.php over and over for
several minutes but it took me a few days to back into the source.
 * It’s happening every day when Wordfence runs its scan. I have googled the daylights
out of this and can’t seem to find a resolution.
 * I have a couple of other sites on the same host and they are also using wordfence.
Their logs don’t show this same issue. They are not identical sites. For one
the site I’m having problems with has woocommerce on it. That’s probably the
biggest difference. I tried deactivating several plugins to see if one of them
was the issue. I also tried removing and reinstalling Wordfence. Made no difference,
the same high cpu issue remained.
 * If there’s any other detail I can provide or directions you can offer to help
track the source of the problem I’d appreciate it.
 * Oh, and my host uses litespeed. I found where there were a few lines suggested
for the htaccess file that might resolve issues with Wordfence and litespeed
and it did not fix the problem.
 * PS Also tried the option to lower resource usage – still going over 100% – as
far as I could tell nothing changed when I did it.

 * Hi Mark,
    In “[Scans to include](https://docs.wordfence.com/en/Wordfence_options#Scans_to_Include)“,
do you have “[Scan images, binary, and other files as if they were executable](https://docs.wordfence.com/en/Wordfence_options#Scan_image_files_as_if_they_were_executable)”
   or “[Enable HIGH SENSITIVITY scanning](https://docs.wordfence.com/en/Wordfence_options#Enable_HIGH_SENSITIVITY_scanning)”
   enabled?
 * Also, on this website do you have symlinks? remember that you can always use “
[Exclude files from scan that match these wildcard patterns](https://docs.wordfence.com/en/Wordfence_options#Exclude_files_from_scan_that_match_these_wildcard_patterns.)”
to exclude (Log files, backup files or cache files).
 * Let me know how it goes,
    Thanks.
