• Hi Guys,

I’m having a few issues with my site that loading times were really slow – sometimes it took 10 seconds for the site to load, but this was related to a wrong config in W3 Total Cache since I moved to HTTPS which is fixed now.

My site is hosted with OVH and basically they’re telling me, before and after the change of the issue in W3 that my CPU and TCP usage is still very high and sometimes still causes the site to load very slow. The site itself is kind of ok, sometimes you still experience long loading times if you browse posts or something.

I removed all plugins I don’t need, tried to optimize everything I could and found through googling.

These are the plugins currently in use:

    Akismet Anti-Spam
    AMP
Glue for Yoast SEO & AMP
    Jetpack
    Meta Box
    pipdig Power Pack (p3)
    Regenerate Thumbnails
    reSmush.it Image Optimizer
    W3 Total Cache
    Yoast SEO

I am really not sure what else I should try. The site worked fine before but randomly went slow. Maybe it’s also not the site but OVH messing with me? Should I move?

One thing I found today is that the site does 93 requests to the mysql database on the startpage and someone told me that’s a lot. I looked at this with Query Monitor.
    Could this be the reason?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

That’s a reasonable number of queries to render a page.

If the site is mostly fine but occasionally slow, it can be a cache refresh/reload on your site or some other site (or sites) on the shared host that are gobbling up resources, leaving fewer for you to use.

    Ok, good.

So what do you suggest I should be doing?
Move to another host with more resources available? Get a VM?

    Hello.

There are many reasons why we providers register problem with the website. 90% of them are related to attempts to hack into your wp-admin.

Remember that if you have many visits on the site it will be impossible to avoid the slowness if the vCPU and RAM setting is low in your OVH plan.

That’s just a tip. We hope you can solve it.

    Good luck!

Start by complaining to your current host.

Thanks for the tips, I’m already in contact with OVH and they’re not anywhere near to willing to change anything.

Let’s see what happens out of it.

Weird thing that happened yesterday is: I changed my .htaccess file with some info I found to block bots from accessing my site. Somehow after that change my site was so fast and got a 95 rank from Google Pagespeed Insights, but that speed only lasted for 15 minutes, now it’s back to slow again.

    Really annoying…
