Building a photoblog — is there a way to set WP 3.5 to a) generate the @2x images when I upload media, and b) detect the viewer’s screen resolution and serve the high-res or low-res images accordingly?

Or should I just use a plugin like WP Retina 2x?

I’m using WP 3.5 and the Catalyst Theme, Dynamik child theme. Not a coder, but I can follow clear instructions if I need to do something in the code.

    Thanks!

WordPress has no in built method of detecting a device’s screen resolution so I would suggest using an appropriate plugin.

You can use non wordpress plugins, just simple pieces of javascript such as http://dahliacreative.com/retinisejs/

The New Media Gallery in 3.5 doesn’t shuffle the image randomly as it was in 3.4.2 even after i ticked YES to RANDOM ORDER

Thumbnail display still shows 5 images despite 3 as i selected.

i like the previous version in that matter …
