• Hi,
I’ve been searching for a plugin that would hide the WP Dashboard for my regular (logged-in) users, while still allowing them to update their individual profile. I found a couple that seem to do that job (e.g. Remove Dashboard Access, WP Hide Dashboard) but none have been tested with my current WP version (4.9.1). Can anyone offer a suggestion of what plugin I could use to achieve my goal?
    Thanks
    Ron

  • My question is why?

If it’s simply because it detracts from your site, then you could probably do this with simple CSS.

If it’s because you want to hide certain admin functions from them, you probably need a user role editor plugin. What user role do these users have?

You probably can and should use one of the plugins. Forward comparability is very much the norm with WordPress, unless the “most recent version” is very old, or there are some threads in the plugin’s support forum saying that there are problems.
Load it up and see if it works.

Thanks to both of you. The main reason I’m using WP is to create a simple photo gallery and let members view my albums. I’m thinking that the Dashboard might just throw off people. In any case, I am making a note that plugins are “forward compatible”. So I will probably go that route.
    Thanks again,
    Ron
