 * My ad provider has recommended me to move the Privacy button to the footer, or
   replace it with a link.
 * I can see instructions to do so @ [https://help.sortable.com/help/ccpa-gdpr-custom-link-locations](https://help.sortable.com/help/ccpa-gdpr-custom-link-locations)
 * So I added the following two lines to the end of the sidebar:
 *     ```
       <a href="#/" class="qc-cmp-persistent-link">Privacy Settings</a>
       <a href="#/" class="qc-ccpa-persistent-link">Do Not Sell My Personal Information</a>
       ```
 * But the Privacy button still shows, and nothing happens when I click on either
   link.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fhiding-privacy-button%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)
   to see the link]_
 * Info is here
 * You can move the button via the portal to any corner – Advance css will allow
   for more changes
 * In the portal you untick the box to remove the button entirely
 * If you have to remove it please ensure you embed the function linked above in
   another button (in the footer or menu) such as ‘change consent’ otherwise you
   will risk non compliance – GDPR states you must provide a way for a user to change
   or revoke their consent as easily as it was to give – So do not hide it away
   or not offer it)
 * Thanks. I finally figured it out with your links. The important part to understand
   is that a new theme must be created with default settings, and then untick “Display
   persistent consent link” at the bottom of the theme configuration screen.
