Support » Fixing WordPress » hiding individual comments

  • Hi, I’m building a site (using Twenty Seventeen) and am wanting to use comments (on the contact us page) as a way for people to contact me. At the moment if someone posts a comment it is displayed on the site.

I have checked “Comment must be approved” and “Hold for moderation” in Settings/Discussion settings, but this doesn’t stop the user seeing their comment on the site.

Also, I note the person leaving the comment has their name and email address “left” in the boxes. Is this WordPress or the browser (this happens in Chrome) and is there a way to clear these boxes once the comment is submitted?

    Thanks in advance!

    Geoff

This is your browser doing it.

Consult your browser’s documentation and set it not to auto-fill forums.

I’m not sure I understand your question.

Geoff, Jetpack has support for simple Contact Forms that you can use instead of using the comments section, SPAM moderation included. I think this should work better in your case. Here’s the link with more info on it:
