    Hi there

I’ve found a couple of issues when employing a work-around (an events plugin I was trying to use doesn’t work.)

I’m trying to show a list of 3 products in an ‘event’ category by menu order ASC.
The menu order format is yymmddhhm so they are effectively chronological.
I also have a plugin that sets ‘events’ to hidden after their start time.

    I’ve tried 2 methods
    – Woocommerce Products by Category block – still displays the supposedly hidden events
    – The following Woocommerce shortcode in block and widget – hides the hidden events, but they are still counted in the limit, so if there are 2 expired events earlier, only 3 events will be displayed

    [products columns=1 limit=5 orderby="menu_order" order="ASC" category="66,67" visibility="visible"]

    Hope that’s all clear!
Thanks for your plugin and your help.
    Clare

OK, I think the problem with the front end is caused by the separate plugin that doesn’t set the products to Catalogue visibility:Hidden properly.

But I have since found that any product actually set to Hidden disappears from the All Products list on the back end, as well as on the front end. This isn’t very helpful, nor the behaviour I would expect. For example, I might want to duplicate the Product.

    Thanks

    Hi there!

You mention that you found out a separate plugin is not setting the products to hidden properly – this might be a conflict with the plugin still, or your theme. Due to this, Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.  Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

This would give us an idea of what is on the site, and see if there is something that is causing it. I look forward to hearing back from you!

Thanks for your response. Is there any way of sharing this info privately? Eg the database prefix is sensitive info.

Please could you prioritise the second problem I found, which is that any product manually set to Catalogue visibility:Hidden disappears from the All Products list on the back end, as well as on the front end.

I have contacted the developer of the separate plugin to look into the problem re setting the products to Hidden on a timer.

    Thanks

    Hi @nothroughroad

Sounds like there are other things at play here altering the default functionality of WooCommerce. Try switching back to a default theme like Twenty Twenty and disabling all plugins except for WooCommerce to see if this resolves the issues around hidden products.

Here is a link that better outlines that process:

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-self-service-guide/#section-4

If this fixes the issue, then re-enable each plugin one at a time, then the theme, until you find the one that’s causing the conflict.
